Now you have no excuse, because Amazon are selling both Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories for fifteen bucks a pop. Two great PSP games for $30 is a great deal, so go ahead and take advantage. Beware though, you've got less than a week before GTAIV -- good luck completing both games before then.

Read - Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories @ Amazon
Read - Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories @ Amazon

[Thanks, Joe!]

GTA PSP titles selling at $15 each on Amazon originally appeared on PSP Fanboy on Wed, 23 Apr 2008 14:30:00 EST. It's not uncommon for Americans to wait for Japanese games and systems. Heck, we still don't have any localized version of Bleach: Heat the Soul. Nor do we have other system colors, or that GPS accessory .... need we go on?

Well, looks like Japan can finally understand the pains of localization delays. Nearly two years since its original release, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories is heading to Japan. The revolutionary handheld title will receive Japan's most restrictive rating of Z and will be on Japanese store shelves on 7/26.

With such a long lead-time for the title, one has to question: how much longer will the Japanese have to wait for Vice City Stories?
Grand Theft Auto finally reaches Japan originally appeared on PSP Fanboy on Fri, 25 May 2007 17:30:00 EST. San Andreas Stories? We never knew thee ... and we may never. GTA4.net has information supposedly from the Australian OPM. In their Grand Theft Auto IV preview, they reveal that work on San Andreas Stories is not happening. In fact, there's no plans to develop a PSP GTA title at all. "When asked about a San Andreas Stories for the PSP, he replies saying that they don't have any plans for that at the moment, suggesting that they likely haven't started at all on another GTA PSP title."

We're a little saddened by this revelation, if only because we'd love to see San Andreas squeezed onto the portable. It seems that crime-loving gamers will have to look towards Driver 76 to get their fix.

[Via DCEmu]
No new GTA games in the works for PSP originally appeared on PSP Fanboy on Sun, 13 May 2007 09:00:00 EST.
Rockstar's made Liberty City Stories. They've made Vice City Stories. So, San Andreas Stories is inevitable, right? Well, that's what one GTA fan's thinking. He's created a series of fake trailers for a potential San Andreas Stories, and we have to admit, these teasers have us salivating.

GTA: San Andreas Stories - the fan trailers originally appeared on PSP Fanboy on Tue, 01 May 2007 19:30:00 EST. The once-PSP exclusive is moving to the home console, and The Simpsons takes a shot at it through the parody game Death Kill City II: Death Kill Stories. As Siliconera reports, the goal of the game seems quite fun: "You have destroyed all human life on Earth.
PSP sales have been quite good the last few months and I figured there's probably a lot of new PSP owners that may not be up to speed on what great games the system has to offer. With that in mind, every day this week we'll feature a new genre and list the top 5 games (according to metareviews), so no matter what you're into, you'll have some idea of what games you should own. We start off the week with one of the most popular genres around: Action.

Top 5 Action games on PSP

(tie) Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories/Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops

Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror

Daxter

Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories

I'm lucky enough to own and have played all of the games in this particular list and trust me, they are all incredible gaming experiences and it's all the more impressive that they're on a portable. I do have to say that I think Ratchet & Clank is better than Daxter and GTA: VCS is better than GTA:LCS, but you really can't go wrong with any of these games. What did you think about these 5 games? What action games aren't on this list that you think every PSP owner should have?

It makes people that have purchased the original feel neglected and the real fans are punished because in order to access the new content, you have to repurchase a new copy. While the practice is considered fine when there's some amount of transparency, Rockstar has been handling it all wrong. Don't call a game a PSP-exclusive if it'll head to another system immediately. Don't consider the games equal, when they're not. Shouldn't gamers have a choice to get the best version of GTA possible?

According to GTAPortable.com, the Italian Take-Two website refers to Vice City Stories on PS2 as having better graphics and exclusive, unpublished content. Hopefully, it won't make PSP gamers feel like the $50 they spent on the original went wasted.
PS2 Vice City Stories to have exclusive new content originally appeared on PSP Fanboy on Sun, 11 Feb 2007 10:30:00 EST. Looks like PlayStation.com also had a listing for the potential port. However, it looks like the ESRB listing has disappeared, as well as the PlayStation.com listing. Was the original posting just a mistake? Rockstar neither confirms nor denies a PS2 version, simply telling IGN: "as a company, Rockstar does not comment on rumors or speculation."

While it may be true that Rockstar isn't working on a PS2 version of Vice City Stories, this listing had to have come from some place. For now, we'll say it's not in the works, but we'll be unsurprised if it ever materializes.

[Thanks, Joe! The copies that are available in stores are patched to prevent the downgrading exploit from working, meaning it may be nigh impossible to find a hack-compatible version.

One seller on eBay is attempting to capitalize on this demand and is selling his unpatched copy for a whopping $400. Many doubted Rockstar, considering how Liberty City Stories made the jump to PlayStation 2. Well, looks like the doubters were right: A look at the ESRB website reveals a listing for a PS2 version of Vice City Stories. If it follows the footsteps of its Liberty City brethren, it will launch on PS2 for a measly $20, sans multiplayer.

Considering the relatively low sales of the latest GTA, it makes sense. It appears that the excellent Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories has dropped in price to a very reasonable $30. Considering how much content the game has, this is certainly quite a bargain.

Looking forward, you'll see that Gamestop is also listing the upcoming PSP port of The Warriors at a budget price of $20. The PS2 version of the game wasn't too bad at all, so you may want to pick it up as well.

Use coupon code "SAVER" to get free shipping.

[Via CAG & PlayStation]
Deal of the Day: Rockstar goes budget originally appeared on PSP Fanboy on Thu, 04 Jan 2007 17:30:00 EST. It took a long time for this review to get completed, didn't it? Nearly a month after I received my review build, I finally post the official PSP Fanboy review of one of the most anticipated PSP games of the year. Why the holdup? Well, didn't you figure it out... this game is insanely long. There's a dizzying amount of content in the game, with an extensive adventure, fulfilling new Empire mode, and tons of side quests and minigames, making Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories one truly meaty, satisfying game. However, even with all the content the game provides, does it do enough to surpass the high benchmark set by last year's Liberty City Stories?
Continue reading PSP Fanboy review: GTA Vice City Stories

PSP Fanboy review: GTA Vice City Stories originally appeared on PSP Fanboy on Sun, 03 Dec 2006 19:30:00 EST. Then, I blacked out. I woke up, with a mysterious mark on my neck, and then learned that my super power was to blog profusely. In just a little over two months since our 1000th post, we've reached yet another milestone: our 1500th post. And like before, it's time to give away some swag!

We're giving away a bag full of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories goodies, including the game, a t-shirt and a sticker. All you have to do is threaten us... GTA style. Imagine me playing my PSP, and you're telling me to give you GTA... or else! Think of your funniest/most intimidating threat, and post it in the comments section. Watch your language, though. Simply offensive comments will be deleted and disqualified. The best entries will be the ones that don't resort to such low-brow measures.

Giveaway ends on 11/23/06. Random winner will receive their prize after 12/8/06. Limit 1 entry per person.

P.S. Expect a review of GTA soon. Also, thanks for all your support. Our readership has been growing steadily, and I'd like to thank all of you for reading the blog. Please, spread the word and help PSP Fanboy continue to grow! Thanks.

Hijack PSP Fanboy's 1500th post, win GTA originally appeared on PSP Fanboy on Wed, 15 Nov 2006 11:30:00 EST. I find it very interesting to look at the software charts from the three major regions. While the Japanese seem to exclusively play the DS, the Brits have more broader tastes in their games and systems. Now that Vice City Stories has been out in the UK for a couple weeks, it will be interesting to see if it can maintain its sales figures.

[Via Gamespot]

UK software sales chart, Nov. 5-11: The Brits dig GTA originally appeared on PSP Fanboy on Wed, 15 Nov 2006 10:15:00 EST. They looked to the PSP as a source for the big bucks, and it looks like they're making a healthy return. Within one week of sales, the PSP-exclusive Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories debuted at number 6 in the UK game charts, making it the top-selling handheld game for the week. With Bully also ranking high, and nary a DS game in sight, it appears that both Take-Two and PSP can breathe a sigh of relief and enjoy their success.

[Via Gamespot]
GTA:VCS debuts at 6th in UK game charts originally appeared on PSP Fanboy on Thu, 09 Nov 2006 06:00:00 EST.
The excellent CheatDevice is back. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories became a wonderous playground with the device, letting you do some truly crazy stuff. Mere days after its release, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories has a CheatDevice of its own. Edison Carter has crafted a tool that will let you get Infinite Health & Armor (helpful) and the Video Recorder (more helpful), which lets you capture footage directly from the game.

You'll need to be running DevHook on a homebrew-enabled PSP. If you're homebrew-ready, head over to Edison's website to download the device. Remember: we don't support piracy here at PSP Fanboy. Please buy all your games!
